[Wlug] looking for mySql setup info

I want to get myth tv installed.  My problem is that I can not get to
the mysql prompt.  Once I get there, I think I can follow the gentoo
setup guides for mySql and myth TV.  I am looking for an independent
setup guide for mysql to get to the mysql  prompt so that i can
troubleshoot what is wrong with my setup.    

Once I get it insalled, I am considering buying hdhomerun.
