Hello Keith,
Thanks very much for your thoughtful response ;).
Regarding the sudo command, she uses this laptop for her academics
and, thus, expects it to "just work." Xubuntu has been good at this
thus far, so I was hoping more of the same. The better Linux does at
"just working," the easier it is for me to keep Microsoft out of the
house.
