[Wlug] usb errors.

2.5" external drives are usually powered off the USB bus. If that were the problem, I wouldn't expect linux to see the drive as sda1 at all. Are the laptops that it does work with both linux? Is it formatted as NTFS?

Sounds like you have a USB problem on your mythbox.   I have a hard
drive that is powered via usb and I know you need to plug both of the
USB cables from the Y into the same usb 'block' (you can't plug one in
the front and the other in the back).  If you were doing that, try
plugging them in next to each other.  Otherwise I think it's a usb
problem.  That's easily detectable by using a jump drive in the same
ports and check /var/log/messages or dmesg.  Also, if it is bad usb hw
on your myth box the hub won't fix it (which is more reason to try one).

My usb hd has a slot for power, does yours?  If so I'd suggest trying it.
