I've had a very good experience with Ubuntu. I can't really compare it to
anything else, because it is the only distro that I've ever used for very
long. As you know, Ubuntu/Kubundu decision is based on your preference for
Gnome/KDE respectively. The desktop CDs for both of these distros can boot
right from the CD into a fully functional system. I recommend you burn a CD
and take it for a test drive.
